Artist Statement

Growing up, I was a curious child, always asking questions and feeling things deeply. My early exposure to the arts, especially through my mother, taught me that creativity was a way to communicate, an expression of love and understanding. This foundation shaped how I engage with the world today, giving me the courage to explore the depths of my own identity. For me, dance became an emotional refuge, a movement language that spoke when words fell short. As I continued my training while expanding my vocabulary, I discovered the immense power dance holds: the ability to unite, to translate emotion into form, and to make visible the stories and identities that live within us. Through my work, I am driven to investigate how personal experience, cultural lineage, and emotional memory shape the way we move.

My movement is deeply influenced by the psychology of human experience. As a choreographer, my process is rooted in self-inquiry and a commitment to exploring themes of identity, justice, and emotional truth. Hip-hop, contemporary, and modern dance are the main forces driving my work, but I also draw from ballet, jazz, and other non-Western traditions. Utilizing this fusion to create a language that bridges the familiar and the unfamiliar.

Above all, I aim to craft work that prioritizes authenticity and individuality; allowing unique expression to inform the performance. I believe in creating a space where strength and vulnerability coexist, where structure and freedom are in constant dialogue, and where every movement reflects a lived experience. I want to inspire both the dancer and the viewer to engage deeply with the themes of the work, to feel the stories unfolding, and to understand ourselves and each other better. I consider dance more than a performance. It is a pathway to connection, understanding, and transformation.
